Pharmacology

Analgesic and antipyretic effects
Research shows that Jing Jie can relieve pain and reduce fever.(9, 10, 11)

Hemostatic effects
Jing Jie's lipid-soluble extract StE has a signifcant hemostatic effect - it significantly speeds up blood clotting, thereby reducing bleeding time.(12, 13, 14, 15)

Effects on intestines
At low dosages, Jing Jie extract StE excites isolated rabbit intestinal canal's smooth muscles, an effect that can be counteracted by atropine. At large dosages, however, StE has an inhibitory effect, and it counteract Bac12-induced enterospasmic contraction.(16)

Anti-oxidation effects
Jing Jie extract StE can increase the PGE content in hamsters' blood plasma, inhibit induced lipid peroxidation, and lower the MDA content in the system being induced. All effects become more pronounced as the dosage increases.(17)

Anti-inflammatory effects
To varying degrees, volatile oil of Jing Jie inhibits modeled acute and chronic inflammation in animals, indicating that it has an excellent anti-inflammatory effect.(18, 19, 20, 21, 22)
